Luckily, as its all nature, its easy to figure out what we are doing wrong and QUICKLY and EASILY correct it.
Right?

Right, guys? Anyone?
No it is not! Most problems with soil will give the impression that the tree is getting too much water or------- is it too dry? Either way the tree will respond the same way. A tree is too dry and will not absorb water; the tree dries out and dies. The tree is too wet killing the roots; the tree dries out because the roots are dead, and the tree dies. Same result from different factors. Grower looks at the roots when he/should not have; roots continue to die and so does the tree. DON'T MAKE THE ASSUMPTION THAT EVERY THING IN BONSAI IS SIMPLE BECAUSE NATURE IS SIMPLE.

Vance is 100% correct. Conor is 100% sarcastically correct. Lol

Yes, Conor was being sarcastic because of how obvious it is, that this is not simple :).
I mostly (still waiting to find out over winter) killed an Acer P that I have had for 4 years, it was my second ever tree. If it does survive, there will be something like 10% of it left. Will be interesting!

You didn't kill it. You're redesigning it.

At least, that's how it's convince myself it's all OK.
