Thank you Mr. Nut!! Can we have a Dislike Button??

And if you don't like what there saying let them know in a nice supporting way and leave it at that
How often can you do that before you get annoyed answering the same question every day? And having someone disagreeing with you because he can, without having any background in the thing you are discussing??

If it was Friday, I could be drinking bourbon while reading this thread...I'd like that for sure!

I think I like this...thank you!

Dislike, disliking the idea of a dislike button.

Wait ....

Old, unlabeled wine works better!

ok...a lot of this has been in fun but also to prove a point..there seams to be a large double standard here...

on one hand...Posters should expect to get any kind of response in writing because this is a public forum
But on the other hand...a notion such as a dislike button is generally opposed...in spite of the fact that the like button is used by most...

so its ok to use words to reply in a non positive manner but not to use a little thing like dislike or thumbsdown button....

The first seems to very non-PC...perhaps a philosophy of life is not fair...deal with it...
And the other is VERY PC...let's not offended someone with a dislike

I call foul....What is the difference oh fello nutters??

Well put Mr. Leatherback!!

I like it...but I refuse to use the Like button!!
Posted in jest of course.. For me, "Liking" what someone posts has become just a quick way to acknowledge their input. If I dislike or disagree with what was written, I then "Reply" to their post. But, that's just me.

If you don't like something someone has posted why do you find it necessary, or constructive, to push a simple button that says so? Some people are out there that think they know everything there is about something and given a simple option, would push the dislike button often and frequently, just because it's there and they can. So what is the advantage of this system? How does it help? No one tells you that you have to do either one; like or dislike. However; when you post a dislike someone or some-more-than-ones, are going to get bent in one way or another. If something someone has posted causes you great distress, or a disagreement or the revelation of a pontificating newb, it should be incumbent upon you to say so and why. If you are so inclined as to push a button you should put up or shut up. At least we know, and the OP knows, the reason for the negative response and leaves it open for discussion. The beginners are warned and the advanced are avenged?

For all the times newbies get on here and offer bad advise to other newbies...

It just makes sense...we can "like" a post...we should be able to dislike a post.

I doubt there is an option for that but it might serve a far better purpose than liking posts...

John

The problem with this idea is you easily get into a "dislike" war. One person gets mad at another poster, and then immediately goes and "dislikes" all their posts. Then the 2nd person reciprocates. Then they start creating secondary fake accounts to add even MORE dislike votes. Given a reason, it is amazing how easily people can get all worked up and fuel their anger through petty vengeance.

I would rather focus on positive energy as much as possible.

I like it! But, why not just get rid of the "Like" button as well? If it's there, yes I'll use it. However, it's not going to effect me one way or the other if it's not there. If there was only a "Reply" option then maybe more people would get actively involved in a thread. Just thinking out loud..

On a side note, what I would rather see is a notification display on the browser tab like, dare I say it, Facebook has.

Because the like button is positive reaction. As it is now if you don't like it you don't have to post at all.

If someone tags you or your following a thread and someone comments...or quotes you. I get alerts at the top of my page here. You don't?

Don't care who likes me ot dislikes me. What does it matter?
Oh wait. Since I was in school everybody is taught in school that nobody loses. Plus they wore helmets when their Moms let them ride bikes. If they were to get a dislike that would be tantamount to losing and being hurt.
The truth is most people under 35 have been coddled since childhood. If someone doesn't reassure them with a like they aren't sure if they are doing things right is my guess.
They may cry.

Vin: Your statement on your posts,

As I have grown older, I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but pissing everyone off; now that’s a piece of cake!

That is really true. What we need to do, considering that many want us to fail anyway, is set out to piss everybody off and fail??????????
