Regarding the strength of light, you can always open up the fixture and just change the T12 with T5 bulbs. Sylvania grolux 6500K 18W. I believe the sockets are the same.

Yes, they are. But at this time...it's working for me and I don't have to worry if little ones visiting touches the cart. It's not hot to the touch. Bottom line that's what's important to me. My internodes are tight together which was my ultimate goal in its purchase.
