Stoned...

Thank you SO much!!!!

I’m glad everything found you safe and sound!

Your words mean a LOT!

My life is calming down as my harvests are almost all in..

My expression can commence!

Whoops! Fixed the unbalanced part of that design!4A58136B-5B4B-47F2-B524-34D5C07DA42B.jpeg
Free-form “sketching” on the face of a drying clay pot is WONDERFULLY stressful!!!

Quite “the rush” as the kids say.

I get it! You put a pair of eyeballs on the "face of a drying clay pot" ;)

The carving is not my of tea: but I can appreciate the vision! I DO like the cut corners though :) Do you have a plan for feet?

They are on now actually. :)

Hehe! I hadn’t noticed the eyeballs! Nice! Just free-association-style carving. 🤪

I’ll get pictures (Of the feet) when I “unweight” the piece.

With the feet, I ALSO tried something new-to-me.. this whole piece was essentially trying/learning a new technique/operation at every turn.. an exhilarating “throw”... perfect for getting the juices flowin’ again....

Nowadays my pot/figure(Structure) ratio will be even heavier figures and structures.. they bring me great joy.

🤓

And ideally, I’ll still dry sand to knock of some of those harsher carving edges (Which is actually just clay overhang/pushout from the carving “channels”) that make it look juvenile, and my aim for AFTER glazing is that the carving is quite understated...

That’s “the goal”, anyways. 🤣

🤓

I’m only about half-way done..

But here’s what the feet (currently) are lookin’ like.View attachment 393611

I was wondering if you were going to split them around those cut corners :) Are they quarter circles? Or two nubs one on each side of the cut corner? Or??

I love our refreshingly honest and straight-forward conversations of pottery!

They are quarter cuts of a circle-edged to be convex.. then.... i guess HALF-“Iron Cross” shapes... like Comical L’s or v’s cut from THOSE quarter-circles.

🤓

Thank you for asking!

How did I miss this thread? Perhaps the title threw me off...

You're first attempts look very promising!
Your shapes are clean, the squares and rectangles have straight sides and edges, the circle, is a smooth circle. Love the textures on the cabins/huts.

Nice job. Look forward to seeing what you do.
