Hello all,

Just wanted to begin a short progression thread for a dwarf Ficus microcarpa I've had for a few months now. I bought it from Meehans on July 13th of this year.

It started out with no lower foliage and long, lanky branches:

After a few cut backs, it's budded back nicely. Something to note is that this dwarf variety has an insane willingness to backbud. Tons of choices:

We'll see where it goes from here.

Lots of choices! I would try to pick a the spots where you actually want branches and get rid of the rest.

That's the thing I like most about this species, their insane ability to backbud. I haven't quite figured out where I want to take this one, I just wanted to capitalize on their small leaves and make a shorter tree. Once I get an idea style wise, then I'll choose which buds stay and which go

I always forget to take before pictures.

If you like Ficus and like to see trees backbud, you need to own one of these ;)

Is that the same tree? How tall is it now?
