Well, is a great spice, and I like take risks ;) so pruned it, repotted it, I made the scars even bigger, and took a video:

I can hardly wait for the next installment!! Very entertaining, and interesting presentation. I think there is some potential here if you are not risk averse. I would ground layer without delay once it's healthy. I don't think you'll be able to overcome that base.

I plan to make some airlayers this year in the sacrifice branches, and maybe the next year, a couple of grafts with them in the gaps of the nebari. If it don't work, the ground layer will be next in the list. Step by step my friend...:)

Thanks for your coment.

It has potetial, of course, in a couple of seasons more....

there is no ugly tree, only trees that need more work LOL ;)

Greetings
Coupe decades worth of seasons, lol!

I agree with Queen Judy, ground layer to shorten the tree and eliminate that anti-nebari...

Terrific development both top and bottom David! Fingers crossed I can see something similar with mine. Which branches are your sacrifices?

Which branches are your sacrifices?

Actually, almost all, but the very first, and a portion of the one with the wire.

I plan to make some airlayers in a month or so, when leaves harder enough, I need roots suppliers for the nebari improvement by graft next season.

Right now It can't be greener and healthier!

Greetings

This one was broken in the fight so I took a cutting too, just in case..

I also cleaned a bit the old cut paste in the edges of the wound, with water and a old toothbrush

Finally, by now, a video of the tree after the three airlayers

We'll see if they work!

Greetings,

Nice work, I'm doing an air layer on my Shishigashira at the moment as well. Started it last year but didn't get any roots but it did leaf out again this spring so I've scraped away a bit higher up and re-attached the spag moss in the hopes it will root this time.

In this case I feel like silence is better than the music... techno music feels like the polar opposite of everything bonsai stands for in my opinion o_O

And finally, by now, a video:

Hi David,
It is a bit sad that you take fantastic progression photos, but don’t take criticism at all.
Thicker skin might help realise we are all here to help each other, and you not ask for “pat-on-back” reactions from us. I am not trying to be a troll lol.
But makes me wonder why you are posting?
Charles
