Seiju!

cool beans...you are farther than a lot of people. let me know how the cutting farming process goes!
Dont expect much. Im terrible with cuttings. Only have one that has lived so far. Making more today actually as I wire my semi cascade/ windswept cherry for the third time this year. Wire cuts in so quickly but holds great.

ever tried self-adhesive silicone tape? I think that's what it was...it's the same idea as raffia, but you can buy it at Lowes at it is stretchy, so it is easy to wrap around delicate branches to protect from wire.

What do you plant your cutting in? I have like 30 that I put in pots with vermiculite and peat moss and most of them still have leaves...they are staying wet a little longer than I'd like, so next time I try it i'm going to increase the ratio of the vermiculite quite a bit.

Ive tried a mix of everything. Potting soil, perlite, mix of both, bonsai mix, sand, etc. I dont think my issue is soil, i think they are too dry but i am setting misters up soon so maybe my success will go up,

I am thinking about airlayering it here when I get home this afternoon, what do yall think?

I've done it successfully, but I'm not an expert on air layering. However, you may want to wait a few weeks. Everything I have ever heard, read, and when I have been successful, was after spring growth hardens off.

Hmm I dont know, I have always read to do it as buds break and it worked for me last year.

Thanks @M. Frary , looks like a doog spot. Lets do that.

That is just the spot. Looks good.
Cmeg is right. This should fill that pot up with roots fast.
Now you may have 2 trees.

Yeah, I am really glad buds popped low because I sorted the roots out well to grow out and chop after the airlayer.

Any given Thursday!

I just want to say.....

This is a great example of an AL made better with a suggestion.

From shit to shine!

That's gonna be a nice tree!
