I found the comments to be fairly entertaining. Weird how people find so much fun in other peoples grief.
What I did find was also enlightening. Thefts have occured there in the past and still no security system. Wish I could afford to lose so much.....I couldn't get $1000.00 for all my trees.

We haven't said anything about it .... mostly because we were gone on vacation when it happened ... people are idiots ... you can read the story of the tree in gnarly branches ancient trees as its progression is in the book ....

hard to add a security system to 6 acres ... with large quantities of it accessible from the water ..... part of the beauty in the place is that its not surrounded by fences and barbwire ...
the tree used to be tied down to the posts ... and many of them still are ... makes it extremely hard to work on them and a little hard to overlook the airline cable in the the roots ...

I hope it doesn't lead to more thefts. News stories that include esitmated prices can fuel thievery. The National Arboretum has had a few trees take over the years. Some were returned, others were found by law enforcement. They ultimately had to install security cams and pressure sensitive alarms, but their facility doesn't cover 6 acres with waterfront access. They're also publicly and privately funded...

I don't have a copy in front of me at the moment and the time of the donation I don't remember ... Daniel has several and I can't recall where it is located in the book ... it was a triple trunk tree IIRC again I don't have a copy of the book in front of me
