RJGII's threadless projects

Ok, so apparently I have too many trees (hopefully) or I am developing dementia (hopefully not). But I had a look at my bluebell tonight and Lo and behold it is in a bonsai pot, so I repotted it last summer. 🤦‍♀️

My wife asked me how many trees I have the other day. (I have no idea) Told her that's the beauty of all this it's like shoes you don't count them you enjoy them. :)

Then she made me tell her and I have 36. ( I didn't count cuttings 9) 🤣

Did you ask her how many pairs of shoes she had?;)

HA! Ain't nobody got time for that. We've been together for 31 years. so, the correct answer is infinity. (I've seen things I can't un-see) :)

Plus I told her Carol has 8,300 plants and shoes. ;)
Lol, I have way more plants than I have shoes. But I have a lot of shoes too so.... best to not go that route.

I have one from them as well. Mine isn't quite as tall, plan on repotting this summer. It will be interesting to see of the cutting takes.
Did you add rooting hormone before sticking?

Looks like the cutting took. I have a couple roots poking out the bottom, none of the top has died, and there are a couple extensions.

Massacred a cheap nursery nana today. Bought it last spring and repotted. Strong growth this spring, so cut it back to the essentials and wired up a new leader.

Hard to resist the cascade urge with these things, but I think it will be better for it if it lives.

Now to just let it recover and grow.

Nice, shohin size?

6' Styrax Japonicus with a 3-4" base for $35? Yes please!

Shoved in the back of my Impreza and air layered a couple branches with movement when I got home.

Separated the Japanese snowbell air layers. I don't know how you all get roots right at the callus! Mine always appear higher up...

Not as many roots as I'd like, but hopefully cutting them from the mother tree forces some good root growth before winter/frosts.

The mother tree has a nice base that I hope to chop down to in spring.

Nice work. What was the drill used for? Air layer noob here, never done it before. :)
