Seedling jail. Stupid birds, squirrels and mice!
Just need to make a top, I ran out of hardware cloth.
Will hold 4 of my seed trays (a little smaller than 1020's). 8 if I make an extra shelf.

Here are my Nippon Daisies from you @Pitoon - didn't want to clog your thread or the Flowers thread (@Carol 83).
Surprised I hadn't posted it in here.
When they arrived (spring 2021) - (I killed the little azalea freebie trying to repot it this year):

Didn't touch them aside from fertilizer and water in 2021 and they did well. Had them sitting in hanging planters, one of which still had a bit of dirt in it.
Flowering, end of 2021:

I cut them back just slightly prior to winter, and mulched them in with leaves. Was surprised they didn't die back at all up here in Maine.
Getting ready to repot, spring of this year (2022) - can you tell which one had the extra dirt in the hanging planter? It also seemed healthier with the extra space:

Roots reduced and spread out (both were treated the same):

Roots are jam-packed. Will probably put them in Anderson flats next year, and preserve some more root than last time to get them a jump start. Maybe leave them on the ground for some escape roots.
Yes, all of mine have good buds pushing right now. Try to keep them from frost. If they get hit the buds will die off. It's already dark here, I'll post a pic of what mine looks like tomorrow so you can cross reference.Putting these away for the winter. Will definitely go into an Anderson flats next year. Still just building trunks.
Oddly, one had put out fat green buds in the fall for the past two years, but the other one doesn't. Have you seen that on yours @Pitoon? (last photo)

In the wild.....as the leaves begin to yellow and die they will stay on the branches and fold down creating a shingle effect. This protects the buds from frost. I pull every leaf off when I do my fall/winter cleaning so for me this puts the buds at risk. But if you cover them with leaves you should be fine. I just move mine into the hoop house over winter.
I kept mine in our detached, unheated garage last year and they did fine. The two original plants are joined by a bunch of cuttings, because they're just so easy.Try to keep them from frost.
My mother plants have rooted into the ground. They stay out year long with no protection. Nippon's are pretty cold hardy.I kept mine in our detached, unheated garage last year and they did fine. The two original plants are joined by a bunch of cuttings, because they're just so easy.
It may not live long but it will be forever in our heartsRainy morning, a shell, a weed from the neighbor's yard, and a little help from my 4 year old.

I have one from them as well. Mine isn't quite as tall, plan on repotting this summer. It will be interesting to see of the cutting takes.Been staring at a blue bell from Wigert's for a few months not sure what to do with it. Straight trunk with a few super thick branches at the top.
Couldn't find any info on cuttings, especially hardwood, but figured I'd lop the to and give it a try.
Wired the rest into a small flat top for fun (might change depending on future growth - like chopping it down to the first branch...).

Did you add rooting hormone before sticking?Been staring at a blue bell from Wigert's for a few months not sure what to do with it. Straight trunk with a few super thick branches at the top.
