Powerful Carpinus Broom

originally it went in the ground because i didnt have space on my balcony. then i dug it up because i was going to sell it....

i think the poster before you was questioning why i dug it up then and not in spring, because thats what he's been told. but i do stuff like this all the time, as we can see the tree's health wasnt compromised. i didnt have to cut off any roots to get it in this training container.

the areas marked in yellow will develop fine in this container. its only been one season since i hacked it to bits.

i could see some validity to the questioning if i had say dug it up and planted it into a shallow oval....

You certainly did...

let’s not forget that little bit of deadwood you’ve created! I see it there!

not convinced by the deadwood branch, i decided the tree is better without it.
this only needs to build up ramification, the main branches have taper already.
the plan isnt to build a new trunkline, its to build a crown at the top of a fat trunk...

theres no harm in letting those two shoots in brown go a bit though, the extra height might look better eventually

I starts reading this thread....
Bobby says this one won't get deadwood on it....
I start wondering if he would be able to not do that....
Ofcourse he's not able to not carve a tree in half lol
But still amazing tree bobby :)

Could you explain the process of carving you used at a high level? Particularly how you got the darker color down the middle? Very interesting.
