I’m not sure whether I’m watering this Chinese Elm too much or too little. It’s indoors because it’s simply too hot outside. I was watering it every other day, but started to lose leaves. I went to Bonsai Empire and based on their videos, I started soaking it every day. I’ve only been doing so for about 3 days, but I’m concerned I’m going to kill it. Any advice?

Where are you located? It’s very likely that the Chinese elm can take the heat.
Top watering is better than soaking when possible.
The tree looks in rough shape. I’d put it back outside in the shade and water when it becomes slightly dry, not on a schedule.
Elms are tough. It’s possible it bounces back.

That’s hot, but I think a healthy Chinese Elm can take it. Yours isn’t so healthy… if it were my tree and I lived there, I’d put it outside in the shade. It may need water twice a day in that heat.

What is winter like there? I’m not sure if this will lose leaves and go dormant… but it might keep its leaves and go kinda dormant.
I think I’d wait until just as next spring’s new growth starts to appear… then start with a basic all-purpose fertilizer regiment.
For now, master watering! Keep it in the shade over 95F, give it some sun if it’s cooler. Water when slightly dry— might be every two days, might be twice a day. Check it close!
I’m glad it’s bouncing back.
