Pinching Vance Wood: the challenge

And sadly, we seem to have lost him in the conversation here. Probably due to a few unkind and completely uncalled for words from others. Also untrue words. I do not think there is another person here who is more generous with their time and contributions to this site and to the knowledge base in general. His blog is a treasure of knowledge, and it will be sad if he packs it in here. I myself have asked for and received personal critique and direction on a few trees, and a few pot choices, that he gave freely and happily.

I could not agree with you more Judy, BVF is an asset to us Nutters here. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who looks forward to his blog postings each Saturday morning as well.

Guys, relax..Brian is still posting, in fact he's posted today in another thread. Maybe he's just had enough of this one.

No need to sound the alarms COH. Was just commenting on how invaluable Brian's experience is around here.

?? I was just responding to the alarm that was sounded in the post before yours, you know...the one you agreed 100% with, that said in part
it will be sad if he packs it in here
Sure, it would be a loss if he stopped posting, but...he hasn't "packed it in" and I seriously doubt he's going to. That's all!

Must be nice to be so omniscient!

Oh no! I am completely defeated! Hagedorn, Neil, Boon, Bjorn are all complete fools!

I have a new mentor now! And he posts "How To" videos on You Tube! For Free!

Now, I've seen the light!

Heh, I've seen his videos before and while he has trees, his techniques are not there. The fact that this is sapped to be teaching people- does leave it open for comment. I think one of them he used thick branded rope to wrap a hard bend.

Not quite what I was driving at, Adair.
I have no doubt he has better social skills than me, as well as being better at bonsai!

Is that what you were driving at Oso?

Look, I said on this forum before that I have a bit of Ausberger's. I'm no Shrldon Cooper, but I tend to like to have rules to live by. So, if the best bonsai artists I know of say, "no pinching", that means no pinching. Yes, I know there are shades of grey... Makes life tough sometimes! For instance, if the Speed Limit is 70 mph, I'll set my cruise control at 70. My wife will say, "You know you can get away with 75". I'm like, "Well, why doesn't it say 75?"

BVF is gifted at presenting what a noob needs to know --> powerful insight, simple story.

You are presenting a challenging multi-year process - far above the noob level. It seems easy to you, but it really ain't that easy (but this is the kind of shit I really dig! :D).

Wedgies or noogies really weren't in my mind.

Could someone just pinch Vance Wood so we can END this challenge and thread.

I was able to parse out the "noise" and gain a lot of valuable information. Could care less which camp you are in...pinch, or not. Either way, you don't get this information at CVS or Walgreen's. So, to each of you...particularly BVF, Adair, Vance...thank you!

Don't let Ausbergers syndrome cause you that kind of grief. Actually some very accomplished people have the same problem, Dan Akroyd for one, one of my Grandson's for another. I believe you are a great artist, I remember your work from back in the Art of Bonsai Days. You are capable of producing some very fine trees. Just don't adhere to rules that limit your development.

There is no "U" in Asbergers.

no...that's not it..

I usually get that with my steak
