I've rounded up some candidates for this juniper. Got a preference?

I like #1. They all look a little large though.
Nice tree!

#1 appeals most to me.

As to the large look, it is the optical illusion of the camera being closer to the pot than the tree. Each pot is roughly the same size as the current pot. I like the black, I'm worried that it being so shallow might keep the roots too wet. Each pot has it's pluses and minuses!!

I think #2 is the best choice. #1, the first pot is too much of an extreme color and will have the tendency to attract attention before the tree in it. A beautiful tree like this one should not have to compete with the pot it is planted in. Pot #3 is the wrong shape to my eye, and will make the Juniper look like you had to settle for a pot.

My eye sees the plant standing out well in the first one. The second one matches it to well and distracts from it. The third I agree is the wrong shape. Just my .02 :p

Here are the pots on the same plane as the tree so you can see the size equal to the tree.

I personally love the pot it's in...though the rectangular one seems wrong for some reason...I feel the round pots would compliment the curves of the trunk better. For some reason I am really drawn to the first one...the dark more masculine pot. It looks gnarly...and the tree has a gnarly look to it. The second pot seems to feminine to my minds eye. For what it's worth...those are my 2 cents.

Though...the feminine pot looks to pull the shade of the live vein into it's own coloring...and might compliment it. But...it seems really a feminine pot. Maybe in my minds eye..conifers should have masculine pots are wrong. But...I see conifers in masculine pots.

Now...if you lose sleep over this...you could just mail the little tree to my home...and sleep easier not having to decide.;)

Number 2 for me. I like the fact that it has feet and feels a little lighter than number 1 does.

I like #1. The rectangular pot is the wrong shape for this tree and the feet on the SR pot add a lot to its visual mass. I prefer the simple lines and understated color of the first one.

Though the coloring of pot 2 would really make the live vein pop! Maybe I read somewhere conifers were to have masculine pots...and it's altering my view of which pot would be best. The live vein...and the coloring of pot 2 seem really flattering.

I have put a number of pines in shallow pots and it seemed they weren't happy cause it was too wet I think. It seems I might have the same issue here. I like the black pot for the way it shows off the tree, but I think the deeper round pot is the way to go for overall health. When it's time to go to a show, I'll probably slip it into that nice black dress!!

Overall keeping it healthy should be put into the top equation of choosing the pot. So...guess you have your answer. Pot #2 it is...though I do like the pot you have it in currently. Love the crackle finish and the bit of green.

None of the pots shown is a good match. They are all too heavy for the tree IMHO. Sorry, I know it is a useless response.

Show me what would work;)

That is the sad part...I can see what doesn't appeal to me but I do not know what will. :(

From the ones posted...probably a smaller (and "lighter") version of #2 works best.

They're ALL too deep, and bowl shape does NOT go well with a juniper.

I'd prefer an unglazed rectangle about 2/3 as deep as the third one and with sharper corners and less leg.
