Pick a pot. What works best ?

That is the sad part...I can see what doesn't appeal to me but I do not know what will. :(

From the ones posted...probably a smaller (and "lighter") version of #2 works best.

I agree with Dario here. You need something to match the light, dainty feel of the trunk, something more feminine. Yes, #2 is feminine, but those big feet and thick walls make it feel clunky/awkward/fat. #1 is ok, but the color and scoring effect make it a little too masculine.

How about the one below from Ryan?

I think it is the feet that distract me from the second pot choice. It maybe just photo angles...but they seem thicker than the trunk of the tree at the base. Making the tree seem not quite fitting for the pot. I guess the smooth curved lines of the tree does have a feminine feel...but...the feet on the second pot seems larger than life next to the base of your tree you plan on putting in it. Again...maybe just an optical illusion.

Opinions run deep in this world of bonsai. In the end, the quest for the perfect pot is illusive and if you like what you have...enjoy! Here's what I'm enjoying! If anyone wants to mail me the perfect pot, pm me, I'll send you my address!

Looks great! I guess it was an optical illusion with the feet being larger than the trunk. Makes the live vein look fantastic...

What are your plans for the pot it once was in? I really liked it. Any plans on selling it?

Not bad. I smidge smaller and no feet and I think you'd have a real winner.

Like #1. #2 a bit large and #3, I see this tree in a round or oval pot to complement the shape. All 3 are nice pot though.

Now that the tree in in it. I like it. Good call.

Its always going to wrong as long as its in a pot:) You need a great stone for that tree!! I might have a couple worthy of that tree, but I am probably as likely to give them up as you are to give up that tree:)

I think you made the best choice of the three, but you are correct the perfect pairings always seems very illusive.

Thanks for posting:)

wait, you repotted that tree just in the last week? That doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Sweet little toy toi, hopefully it will live.

Severely root bound, i did tease out the outside edges but only disturbed the outside 10% of the root mass. The pot was a favor visually and horticulturally.

Of course it will live! Terry is a smart fellow, think about why and how he did it ;)

Step 1 - Found a problem(root bound).
Step 2 - Analyze time of season and options.
Step 3 - Bad time of season, but still options.
Step 4 - Pot option 2, slightly larger, may carefully repot with little disturbance.
Step 5 - Pop a top on a cold one, problem solved safely.

I find it awkward that people so strictly "believe" you cannot repot unless it is perfect timing. If I had 10USD for every time I repotted because of a reckless reptile, wind storm, fork hole in a box and just plain being clumsy I would have about 150USD extra right now. For the record all of those plants survived just fine
