Pacific Bonsai Expo, October 26-27, 2024, Oakland, CA

I should book my flight and accommodations. I’m gonna bring several friends! Plan is to go in the morning on Saturday, and get afternoon passes for the friends who can join me after lunch.

I’m excited to say I’ll be attending PBE this year!

We actually planned out a 2 week road trip of California that landed perfectly in-line with the show. We’re camping for 6 days in Yosemite and then heading over to Oakland/San Fran that Saturday. I can’t express how stoked I am to go to a bonsai show like this. Closest I’ve been to seeing trees this nice was Bjorn’s garden. Downside is we’ll only be able to make it out on Sunday, so no first pickings, unfortunately.

I’d love to meet up with any B-nutters that will be attending that wanna meet up! I’d also love an opportunity to purchase a pin. :)

See you there!

Is anyone driving to PBE and returning anywhere near Missouri? I have a pot that needs delivery. PM me if you are and we can make it worth your while.

I posted a video version of the Bonsai Wire Podcast to my YouTube channel.
A discussion with Jonas of our early show experiences and how that shaped the PBE.

This may be the coast live oak from Monterey that @Eric Schrader referred to? If so, it ended up in the Clark Bonsai Collection in Fresno. I know if was a donation from the Monterey Club.

Not too late, when I get a moment I’ll start my list for button requests. I’ll probably take them up until October. :)
I should still have my button somewhere from nationals last year. Let me look before you make another!

Unless it changed substantially I don't think that's it. Check out this page on the Wayback Machine:

Here's a photo I pulled down (Credit to Walter Pall I believe) attached.

Nope, not it. He must have had a ton of oaks with really ugly trunks!

Two new bonsai wire podcasts are up - each profiling exhibitors that will be at the show this year. Admittedly I didn't travel far to do these interviews.

FYI - Saturday parking is almost sold out. 22 additional vendor tables added.
Volunteer signup is now live!

In case you don't get Jonas' blog emails/updates. Here is the recent one:
