Pacific Bonsai Expo, October 26-27, 2024, Oakland, CA

I see the picks are up. Looks like a good variety, someone has a Giant Sequoia in there, looking forward to seeing that.

@Eric Schrader What happened with the judging? Did that holdout judge submit their picks, or did you end up going with just the 4?
Perfectly timed question! The results are now published on the PBE Website here:
We will be following up with accepted exhibitors individually in the next couple weeks.

I met with Jonas yesterday and available sponsorships are here:
We have received a tremendous amount of support already and hope to continue to see the community build this event with us.

Policy updates - Donors at $250 level receive an invitation to the Friday party. Donors at the $1000 level receive 2 Friday invitations and 2 Weekend passes. Donors at the $2,500 level receive the same as at $1K but also have the opportunity to work with us either with advertising in the program, or on-site (e.g. in the concourse programming area etc.)
Volunteering - We'll be announcing the volunteer policy relatively soon, but the mechanism for volunteering will take a bit longer to implement.

Thanks Ryan.
yeah, in order to make sure we have a full and top-notch show we have a list of alternates. Normally if a particular tree drops out we look for a tree from the alternate list that is similar. Either same category, same species or size etc. That's to maintain the balance of the show.

Hi All - in case you need materials for promoting the show within your organization, we've created a resource page on the website. This will also be updated regularly to include podcasts and other media related to the show:

What about parking? Do donors need to purchase parking passes in advance through the website or is parking provided for donors?

Hi John - For Friday / Friday night, there is no cost for parking. I'll send you a pair of parking passes for the weekend.

Just to drum up some excitement and see who all from the forum will be there. Will whoever reads this please respond, "I'll be at the PBE this year" with a picture of themselves and their name, so we can all say hi?

I'll be at the PBE this year-Jeremiah Lee

I'll be at the PBE, but since my photo is plastered on all kinds of stuff I'm not sure you meant me. Lol.
Who else??

This is a questionable picture to post if you're trying to show people what you look like, even if your face is posted several other places as an organizer. During the Expo, I think you need to walk around carrying a small shimpaku cutting holding it out in front of you so we can distinguish who you are;)
