New to Bonsai from NJ

No, just gardens. One of the better spots in NJ for horticulture. They take good care of the park and there is a nice rose garden there. You can do the whole park in about three hours patiently or about an hour just walking through. This saturday is the park's open house.

There is a bonsai nursery All Shapes in NJ... more west-central than north. Also Kifu is out in PA about another hour and a half but Bob has more specimen subjects than nursery stock.

Did you hear Darkthrone's new single that just released? Its quite doomy, obviously Sabbath influenced and caked over with. Lemmy-toned bass, but I also pick up hints of Witchfinder General's debut and Pagan Altar. I do like their recent albums. I think Circle The Wagons is the best of them but I always go back to their first four or five though ultimately. My favorite BM from Norway of that era is Burzum. Aeternus' first two records are all time favorites for Norwegiam BM, though they came out just slightly afterwards. I think of all those people, Ihsahn has remained the best musician creativity wise.

Currently in my cd shuffle: Ischemic (Doom/Death/BM- Canada), Askog (BM - Sweden), Radiation (Thrash - Slovakia), Trees Speak (Electronic/Ambient/Krautrock - USA - Arizona), Skorbvster (BM - USA - Tennessee).

Where in NY are you? Before pandemic I was at St. Vitus often for shows as well as the other typical spots. Next shows planned are Deicide in sept and Loudness in Nov. Both at Dingbatz in Clifton.
Yeah, I've been to All shapes. They got pretty good stuff. I thought there must be a closer nursery. Another close one is Bonsai Shack, which is cool but doesn't have many trees, and it's kind of pricey. Looks like PA is the way to go.

I did. and liked it very much, can't wait to listen to the whole thing. Honestly, they sound better nowadays comparing to their late 00s, early 10s, especially after arctic thunder. and Old star was GREAT! Old Burzum has always been my #1. Mayhem's new album is also coming out. Def agree, Ihsahn is great.

Cool stuff. Will check them out. I got more into post-metal and post-metal in the last few years, generally bands like cult of luna, crippled black phoneix, solstafir and kuaun. but always open to new good BM.

Brookyln. Used to live around Linden for a while. And we gonna move to North Bergen very soon.
Yeah, haven't been to st Vitus for maybe 2 years. I hang out at Lucky 13 sometimes. Haven't seen Deicide live but will def go. Looking forward to more shows, hopefully earlier this summer.

It did with fundraising and regulars' contributions.

Had some spare wood laying around so I built this bench for my pines and junipers to get them more sun. This location on the left side of the yard. They will get full sun from sun up to sun down.

The bottom 4x4s are just loose laid in and i put some leftover paving stones from my driveway renovation for more bottom weight just to counteract the heavier weight at the top. Thing is built like a rock though. It has a slight lean back because the grass is uneven, so I have to put some pieces of wood or somrthing under the back legs.

Backyard is pretty large. Lol. From that fence at the driveway to the back fence is about 220ft.

A mixed forest I'm letting grow. This was its first year assembled in box. All trees by me from seed. Most are one or two year old seedlings. Grew well this year. I did some trimming and tightening up tonight.

The three centerpiece trees are two ginkos and a pin oak. All the trees are common to my neighborhood... some red maples, oak, ginko, a couple crabapples, japanese maples, and a single pitch pine on the left corner.

Very interesting, it could look very nice.
But some may have stronger root systems that will perhaps take over and choke others, so wait and see, but that's definitely an experiment worth trying.

A liriodendron sapling I managed to keep alive this summer. Hoping for a good leaf out next year and repotting the following year into something bigger. Nice low movement and I see some low buds that I may be able to develop. I know there are concerns with branch die back and dropping on this species but the leaves and flowers are so unique it feels worth the effort.

Found in soil in one of my Kei Apple seedlings. I have distanced it from other trees and checked other pots and have found that no other trees are affected. I have seen this before on the forum but often with poor photos and no one is able to identify. Maybe the experts on the forum @Adair M, @Leo in N E Illinois, @leatherback, @AlainK, @penumbra, @Wires_Guy_wires, can assist in identifying the culprit. The roots do not seem to be impacted. I can repot if needed. Maybe this is simply the early stages of mychorrhizae colonization.

Not 100% sure, but that looks like some sort of insect egg to me. Could be something bad like root aphids, or something harmless. Just my 2c
