New Bonsai Rule

Just because someone sees "ones self" as a leader, an innovator, a master, does not a leader make. No one is impressed to elevate that person as someone to emulate because they strive extra hard to be seen as someone to be followed.

I agree with you 100+% having sat "under" some rather expensive instruction and having left with some rather "negative feelings"... I paid for instruction not snide remarks and honest the remarks were not relevant. A certain situation really put me off when a heavily priced instructor with a very good name told me I should learn to use "proper" wire cutters. He did not see that I had a rather impressive collection of expensive cutters but for the heavy stuff I was using an extremely old cutter given to me by my Dad which was working just fine. I told him I was and ignored him "knowing" he had for sale a lot of tools at what were above average price :p At that point at least for a few moments I thought "who is the Master here" and after the sessions as well...

I have encountered a few other situations with great "names" and have deferred to learning myself at my own pace. I find money better spent on very good stock AFTER learning the plant growing and working with a few smaller never to be Bonsai of the same species first. It is Bosai - it takes time!

It just seems to me we have a "widely divided" and "never defined for good purpose" amount of experts but rarely a Master.

Perhaps if you and lordy want to discuss masters you could open up a new thread, seeing that you are going off subject and just continuing to stir the pot. Thanks!
