Native Azalea Collecting

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has successfully collected native azalea and if there were any tips for success? I have access to a bunch of these pictured

I haven’t collected native azalea but I am developing one and may get more this spring.. responded pretty good for cutting back hard and repotting so far .. but it was a mix of pumice , akadama and kanuma .. future reports the kanuma will steadily become more higher percentage in mid
