I suppose you wait for a seedling to ‘harden off’ before you can trim it, or do you just cut back annually since it’s doesnt grow a whole lot if it lives in a tiny pot?

My cup of paronychia: I’m not sure if this is a pre-bonsai or accent plant. I really like the species for creating a distant tree image.

I picked up these two Ulmus parviflora "Hokkaido" in April. I picked up two since the price was so reasonable. I decided to hard prune one today and leave the other in case the pruned one didn't respond well.
My biggest concern is how to winter these little trees. I may keep them in the garage where it tends to stay above freezing most of the winter, but still chilly enough to keep these dormant.

This one has been growing and changing a bit. I repotted as it had surprisingly little root growth in the last substrate.
