My New Mini Jade Bonsai

We were at our local Publix today and they had a bunch of mini jade and Ginseng ficus bonsai. I picked through the mini jades and found the one below. For me it seemed the best one and looked like I could do more with it.

My only problem, I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t know if I want a broom style or if I want something different.

I kinda like the look of what I found in the first picture that I am going to post. Is this doable with what I have?

I am going to get rid of the stones and the moss, I will likely repot it in a large pot that I have that’s not a bonsai pot. I can’t put it in the ground since I live in an apartment, but it will be out on my screened in balcony which gets lots of morning sun and late morning sun.

I guess the question is, can I repot this now in Central Florida?

Pretty nice for a grocery store find. I wouldn't hesitate to repot it here in IL, so in FL you're good to go.

I do think so, over time of course. Not sure if jades like to be repotted and worked on the same year. So hopefully someone with more knowledge on that will respond. But it's got some good potential for the future.

Please visit Heathcote Gardens in Fort Pierce and spend a few hours in the Jim Smith Collection. Smith introduced Portulacaria afra to the bonsai world and you will see amazing example of this species. Yes, your tree is very good for a grocery store buy and can develop into something similar to the first tree in your post!
