Multiple waterings today

Wow I thought we are bad here... have been 102, 103 for many days. Your lows are about 20 degrees cooler than us though

Only In the 80s here in PA, with lows in the 60s, but still hotter than usual, still not close to you guys. We had a 90 degree day here, and I wasn’t home to water my trees, and my buds on my BC almost died out. However air quality is in the late 200s in and around Pittsburgh. It’s been code purple for a few days, and smoke is visible in the air and smelled when you go outside. It’s almost like a fog.

Better put your BC into dunk tank.

Makes me rethink the old "FULL SUN" adage. 💩

Top, pots, shelves.

yeh that's why you see Bjorn and other pros talking bout shade cloth and automated misting, etc...summers be brutal

I'm on a watering grind as well, but there's been rain and clouds about every other day, some weeks have been dry scorcher streaks tho. I need to redesign my garden and introduce some irrigation before next year, but it's too hot to put in the elbow grease right now....🥵

At what temperature do we need to put bald cypress into water??? I've had my first one for a week and have just kept it watered, but the temps haven't really been over 80. Here, it's going to get into the mid to upper 80s this weekend before dipping back into the 70s.

Fortunately we have a Pacific ocean delta that allows cooling air to filter into the valley at night most of the time.

I’m not the best at this so take my advice lightly as it may not be the best. I’d put it in if the heat is causing problems to foliage or the tree in general. If you’re able to keep the soil watered enough, which is very important for a BC, I would say it doesn’t need to be dunked. However, putting the pot in a low level tray of water in general is good for a BC, regardless of drought conditions. It can help the tree grow way better if you’re trying to get it to grow faster/fatten the trunk.

Thanks I appreciate the advice!

They don't "have" to be in water at all. It's about 100 here all week and from seedlings to my big ass Spiderman are not water. I do have a tray with a few seedlings in water. If it looks tired (limp foliage) even after regular watering then might be a good time to dunk or reduce sun exposure. In ground BC is used to regular temps in the high 90s without flinching, in a pot you should be a bit more cautious.
