Anderson flats now being sold in multiple case quantities

Since this thread is most recently active, I want to share two new plant trays I just bought off Amazon. These do not replace Anderson flats, but are useful in the same vein. They are sturdy enough to use for several years. Designed for hydroponics and therefore sun resistant. Both can be used either on the bench for root pruning or on the ground to allow roots to escape.
The larger are 14.6 x 11.8 x 2.75 inches. The smaller are 5.3 x 7.3 x 2.5 inches. The smaller ones I will use for many of my maple and elm seedling that are in 3 and 4 inch pots currently. The larger for clumps of trees and for larger plants to build on nabari and root ramification. Smaller are 10 for $21.99 and large are 15 for $36.99. Both with free shipping.

I’ve been using the bigger ones. I like the look of the smaller one too and I do need something about that size

Does anyone know where to find similar types of trays but the drainage holes are on the side as well ? I’ve seen like blue or colored ones but can’t seem to figure out who makes them

Another q about these: is the bottom strong enough to wire the roots in with the traditional style of 4 anchor wires up from the bottom and tighten down around the roots? Or do you have to use the sides of the baskets to wire the tree in??

They are strong enough to wire most medium-size trees in. Very large or very tall trees would definitely pull and flex the bottom a bit. Even for a larger tree it would probably be ok if the tree was not being moved around much.
