Mame pots on a mini pottery wheel

While waiting for a pot to dry I started work on my PIT-EKA mini pottery wheel. Here I drilled out the holes for the bat pins on the wheel head. You can also see the larger motor in the background. I'm hoping this motor will give me more torque.

You should use your mini-pottery wheel to make a MINI foot wheel... to throw some TRUE minis!!

Just rustlin' yer spuds, buddy.

I'm excited about the new range and seeming durability of this wheel build.

This build is a prototype. I have to see how the wheel performs when its done.

Aaand.. is it easy?

I have motors for DAYS!
There's a learning curve....and then the clay has to cooperate as well.

Super Clean and simple.. but special.. lots said in those lines.

If the top lip was a little.. sharper.. it would remind me heavily, of Korean Pottery.

I really like this.
I made the rim thin, but I rounded it cause I don't want the glaze to break on it exposing the clay body beneath. It will be a lot thinner after the glaze firing.

Have you tried throwing these small pots off the hump? I can throw several dozen mame pots in a sitting this way as opposed to throwing individually

I don't think his wheel has enough power to handles more than a few ounces of clay at a time. When I throw mini bowls off the hump I use 5 to 8 pounds of clay.
