Lowes pickup question

I just got this guy from Lowe’s and upon closer inspection under the moss it appears to just be some regular dirt/potting soil it’s planted in. Will this suffice for a while before a repot in a year or 2?

It may if not terribly root bound and if watering is carefully monitored. Personally I would re-pot it into a decent bonsai soil now in your zone.

That’s what I was thinking too especially when we get to our daily rains although it is tucked under the roofline. Not a fan of the pot anyway!

If you can water daily get it in a smaller pot and maybe trim that leader down and wire some branches.

Does that pot even have a drain hole in the bottom? Sometimes they don’t.
