KASHIMA MAPLE

another nice work Sergio, the hard cut back brought taper to most of it so the tree really improved from this.
but as mentioned in previous posts as well, you should consider bringing the apex a tad more to the right to create a bit more of a dynamic image.
anywayz, i think the tree improved from before the cutback

I would prefer if the tree was encouraged to keep growing to the right as before by moving the apex in that direction and reducing the left side. But, either way it's a great tree, great recovery and great work. Nice one!

Yes I think I do agree with this.

thanks for the info! confirming mostly what I thought about the green mountain maple. Might be what I get next. My kiyohime is teaching me patience...a very long and slow patience ;)

Sure! Greens are the best. Even Bill himself with tell you that. Kiyohime is not among my favorite variety. They are not as vigorous and I also have had a tough time getting them to color well in autumn since they end up with scorched leaves by the time the season ends no matter what I do. However they do make very good shohin bonsai.

DJ agreed.

absolutely beautiful tree
It was lovely to begin with but now I like it even more.

Is is always nice to see your trees come out from winter in good shape. This tree is budding strongly and evenly all throughout. Always a good sign. It was recently repotted and soon I will add a layer of sphagnum moss to keep some of the finer surface roots developing. Love the distinctive orange cast that the kashima leaves have as they come out in spring.

Yes yes yes!!! This gets better every time I see it. Good growing this year Serg.

Thanks Juds! This is the first time since the 2011 disaster that I started to pinch the center of the outer shoots in order to balance the energy of the tree and continue to refine the ramification. Now I can start to slow things down.

Having a tree like that is all I want for my bonsai life

Oh... stop it you!

Every time I see this I do a double take. As we approach bathing suit season, I will await that special photo of Juds. You have a special place in my heart Judy!
I think it will have to be a separate thread....;) Fair warning though, that tree has more curves than I do...:p

You should to snap a pic every day for the next week or two for a progression shot as the leaves come out! That would be worth documenting for sure... One of my faves M5... Great tree!

Thanks Eric! Funny I was thinking the same but due to work schedule it will not be possible to take daily pics. However I will try and see what can be done.
