Just finished styling this one for a friend

Well, on that picture i would remove the lower right :)
This alternate front looks better to me, i like the live vein better here, though its kinda hard to see on the other pictures

As promised: the alternate front:

The apex moves away from the viewer from this angle. Could be fixed. This has an interesting double lifeline at the bottom.

double lifeline

That is nice, but I don't think it's enough to outweigh the STABILITY in the other front.

We are talking about Sargenti like Sargents, like home depot right?
Not some Japanese version of Sargents that is superior?

Sorce

Sorce,

I have no idea if they sell the same Sargents juniper as this one at Home Depot. The foliage on this is very fine, and whispy. It was difficult to condense it to make nice pads. I attribute the "whispyness" to the fact it only gets 3 hours of sun each day.

At the last picture, the life vein at the left, is this only for the lower branch on the right?
It would be a pity to loose that

Yes. Pretty much. That life line does connect to the other main life line just above the branch. It's a very narrow connection. Maybe 3/8 inch.

If the branch were jinned, that may be enough to keep the lifeline below alive. There already is some Shari on that bottom branch.

Complex tree.

IMO, keep the original front and do not remove the low right branch. The back has interest, but because of the bend, there appears to be some inverse taper. Maybe that is the photo. I don't know. What about this three hours of sunlight?
Is that at the owners place?

Yes, at the owners home. He brought to me to wire and style.

I'm returning back to him on Sunday.

I've enjoyed looking at it for a couple days!

Geo, on the junipers with lots of deadwood, a bit of reverse taper is not necessarily a fault. Especially the ones with " ribbon" deadwood. This one doesn't have ribbon deadwood, but the deadwood is extensive. You can "see thru" the lower trunk! The movement is so interesting, the reverse taper just adds more to its story.

Yeah, we like the original front better, too. That's why it's the front!;)

Fwiw, I'm pretty sure Adair stands around 6' 3", so he was up to the challenge...o_O
Actually, I'm 6' 1 1/2".

It was a lot of work. I didn't work on it continuously, but it did consume all my free time for 5 or 6 days.

An example of why you only want a few "finished" trees! They take a lot of time.
