There have been problems here with scammers, lately. When two people are doing business within the same country, they can rely on the court system to resolve a dispute. When a scammer lives overseas, it's nearly impossible to get your money back. Also, the fact that you're visiting from India is itself a reason to be cautious. I know most Indians are not scammers, but most scammers are Indian, and the country has earned its reputation as the land of scams.

Is that my fault, my mom does not trust ebay as we've been scammed enough with ebay in india

There isn't something I can do for that, and yeah my mom's staying for 6 more years probably so she can handle things and I wouldn't scam ppl coz karma is always there for us. If I scam someone, according to our beliefs, the thing won't even be fruitful(in this case the tree might die). There are still Kind hearted people who don't have intentions to scam. Infact I am going to LA in April so I thought I could pick the tree up...
