Most of my figs are fused trunk figs. After less than 5-6 years trees of this quality are possible .
Ficus Natalensis
Fucus Natalensis, a strangler fig, is a good specimen for making a fused trunk bonsai. The rooted cuttings fuse together reasonably quickly.
After about a year or so the rooted cuttings have fused together enough to begin the initial styling. Note the red Chinese string has not yet been removed.
The tree is a bit too tall and must be shortened.
thinned out
and finally the main branches have been wired and positioned.
The white on the leaves is due to the mineral deposits from the well water I use for watering my trees. It can easily be removed.
Now it is again time to let the tree recover before further refinement is attempted. The crown will again have to be reduced.
Enjoy. Hank
