Glad you rotated the arrangement so the "path" was not going straight forward & back. The diagonal path is much more visually pleasing. Thus avoiding the "inverse mohawk" haircut look.

I love this post. A gal in the neighborhood had a beautiful landscape Rubrum and I collected a bag full of seeds one fall. I’m glad I did because the tree was chopped down the following year. I made a forest as well with a handful of the seedlings I germinated and the fall color is wonderful. Definitely a fun maple to work with.

I think the trunk thicknesses are about where they need to be. Chopped a few of the trees lower to get better taper into the canopies. Also removed unwanted branches and partially defoliated to let more light in.
