Frost warning......NY/CT area

Frost only occurs when the temperature of the ground (or top of your car or whatever) gets down to 32 or lower. Standard air temperature measurements are taken in a shelter at about 6' above the ground. So yes, you can easily get frost when the "official" air temp is above freezing (cold air is denser and settles to the lower spots). So you could have frost, but your trees could be fine if they are on tables several feet above the ground.

This is why it is crucial to be familiar with the details of the weather in your growing area. Use min/max thermometers to track temps exactly where you keep your trees. You might be surprised. The other night the temp at my weather station (6' high) got down to 30 but the temp on my lower benches (about 2-3' high) was 27. That can make a big difference.

Good stuff there!

Is it over yet!?

My god!

Temps only went down to 40.......so I moved everything for nothing...
Damn weatherman..

Of course if I hadn't moved everything, we would have had a foot of snow...

I'll get everything back out over the next day or so.

I know dew point also plays a factor. The dew point here yesterday was 32. If the temp had dropped below that, we would have had frost if the humidity was high enough.
