Yes, just one other question: HUH?Any other questions?
I believe some Oak trees do the same thing to a degree... The soil close to their roots gets really acidic or something making it hard for other things to grow there... And of course they shade everything out as well... Even grass won't generally grow as well around Oak roots. In fact, azaleas are one of the few trees that does grow ok under Oaks.

Eric,
Please read your first post. The one where you run wildly round the yard and only to come back and 'decide' that,
'oh yeah they grow okay there don't they?' I was hoping that, if I goaded you, you would impart another pearl of
wisdom for us in the guise of a "question". Have a great week man I always enjoy your posts but just couldn't help
taking that one it was too obvious.
You should come on down to columbia... It would be worth the ride.As I said earlier in this thread, I am looking for a few to cut back. Doug suggested this website to me when looking for nursery stock:

The problem is, I don't know what varieties I should look for. I know where to find a certain variety, if I had one in mind that is.
I want satsuki I think, they seem to be all the rage. I am looking for 2, 3, or 5 gallon ones if possible.
Color wise I'd like to get maybe red, white, or orange (or a combination) colored flowers. I really liked someone's on here who had a white flower with a red stripe on one of the petals. Really any color, however, I am not a fan of the common pinkish-purplish color that I see everywhere in town here.
Maybe suggest some varieties that are your favorite? I honestly have no clue what I'm looking for.
The nurseries in town don't have any so I might as well make the effort to find the more attractive varieties. Going Saturday to find them.

Double Cringe!
I like the white with red flower too!
Speaking of crackheads, I gotta itch to go buy another one! Maybe I'll just go stare at my BSC tree again for an hour or 2. Or 4.

Yes it is quite mounted, but the moss is also pretty thick which doesn't help. I was rushed quite a bit because I forgot I was going to my sisters house and this was my first time so I was unsure obviously.Looks like your really mounded the soil up, and I assume there is little room for new roots to grow... It isn't a problem probably, but it will allow for very little room for the roots to expand and thus limited tree growth probably. All depends on what you are going for...
