Dale Cochoy

Sometimes the S#*% comes down so hard you need a hat.

Hang in there Dale. Praying for your family and you.

gibmeister, I'm a bit over 2 hours away, but if there is anything that longer distance help can do (other than positive energy) please let me know. If this is a long recovery, and folks are needed for foster care, I'd be very happy to help...

A man and his son in intensive care, at the same time, from different accidents. That's unbelievably sad.
But they will survive, and that's what matters right now.

Judy,

Thanks, I will let you know when things settle down a little what might be needed. For now lots of prayers. Dale fell on a new forest planting we did this spring. He wants me to go make sure the trees are ok. I hope to check it out tomorrow.

Gib

Hey Gib,
At least he's ok enough to care about the trees, I think it's a good sign. Please do let me know, I'd do the drive anytime it would be helpful.
Thanks for keeping us updated. I just hope his son is doing as well. I feel for the mother/wife, can't imagine the hell she's going thru. Pulling for all of them.

This goes to show you just how fragile life can be and how quickly something un-planned for can change everything in a flash. This is the second time in two years someone I care about has taken a fall from a tree. Having obtained sixty-and-some years I have finally realized that I am not twenty any longer and can no longer afford to act carelessly but have to determine what I want to do, what I need to do, and how to do it without causing damage to myself. If the risk is too great I don't do those things any longer----the body does not heal as fast as it used to. This is the message to all of you, don't try to be macho, try to be smart and realistic. All that being said I am not saying that Dale was careless, I was not there I do not know, I do know the other person I made refference to, did exactly the same thing and severly broke a leg; his still limps on it. Please be careful. As to Dale, I met him a few years ago as he was vending at our club show. He was a straight up and honest man that I took to be a friend instantly. I wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery. He will be in my prayers and I believe prayer works.

Wishing Dale and his family the best.. Dale is a master craftsman..Hopefully after he and his family heals. He will still be able to do the things he loves.

If you guys have seen all the other boards, take note of how many have shown their concern. We should all be so lucky to have so many that care about us in this old world.

Amen.

Has there been any updates on Dale and his son? We do all pray there has been positive improvement for both.

And we do pray for Nancy for she is carrying a major burden right now.

He is steadily improving... Siting up, and being the apostle of bonsai that he is to the hospital staff. Love that man!

For those of you not familiar with Dale, here is a photo of him with one of his larger custom pots...

I just heard about this tragedy last night. Dale is a good friend and a great guy and my prayers have been added to all of yours, the great people here at Bnut.
Life is indeed fragile, I broke my ankle in late February with a simple miss step, my trees would not be alive today without the help of my wife and bonsai friends.
I have made a special prayer for Nancy, that she have the strength she will need to help Dale and their son in the recovery from these accidents.

I got a note from Nancy that Dale has been moved out of critical care into a standard room!!! This is GREAT news! Please keep them all in your prayers, and know that Dale has been very touched by the outpouring.

This is great news!!! But I still have not heard anything about the son, and am worried about him. Do you know if there is any good news there?

He just got home today! He's on the mend, but has a ways to go... apparently has a very gnarly headache and hearing loss in the left ear. But they think that will resolve itself. No word about the condition of the wares as yet... so keep hoping for good things on that front.

Good news all around. I wish Dale and his son continued improvement.

FYI... sounds like Dale might be released as early as either today or tomorrow... he is getting a strength eval today. Woohoo!
