Solid root ball and some major roots on the back and side that need to be further reduced.

They‘ve done a pretty good job healing over since the last repot. Looking back at the record here - that was about 3 years ago.

Could you not repot it w/ the front facing the edge of the pot due to the large roots?

I think it’s oriented the way I like it. The roots are just unsightly and make the tree look unbalanced in my opinion. There are a few reall strong roots and a bunch of bare spots. So I grant the bare spots and reduce the big roots.

I was just trying to make sense of why your after picture was posted at an angle. It looks like a fun tree that ought to develop quickly.

ahh. I get it. Ginormous olive tree was in the way was all. I should have turned it, but was just lazy.

Great tree, excellent work and thanks for taking time to share it with all of us.

Maybe a noob question, but why reduce the big roots ? For me that is a point of attraction, big sturdy roots for a big tree gripping the earth...
Is it to fit in a smaller pot ? Or just a question of "taste" ?

Looking really good Scott. One of my favorite trees on Bnut.

Do you happen to know how long it took to heal the trunk chop? Was was it done completely while in a container? The chop on mine is a little smaller than yours but hasn't really healed too much over the years. I keep going back and forth on whether I should stick it in a big tub with large soil particles to heal the chop, or just work with what I have.
