Chinese Hackberry

Great photographs of your hackberry,Judy.
Hope your dog recovers well and gets to enjoy the great outdoors.

Thanks guys, I've been doing a little better with the camera these days, all trial and error. (lots of error.) But thanks for the dog wishes too.
@just.wing.it I've had this one longer than just about any other, was one of my first "real tree" purchases.

How much ramification is too much LOL.... And people say they have trouble getting these to ramify....

It's probably about 20+ inches tall, the base is around 8" or so.

@sorce I do cut some after July, but not anything major. Just to get the thing into the storage. They have had a lot less dieback in the winter with my protection, so I did cut the smaller one back more than normal. Will see what happens.

I do think that there is too much going on here, I guess if you have a lot of ramification, you have to thin that out as well for a good winter look. I've never had such a problem as things are just getting to the point of creating good ramification so am not sure how to handle this. I think that it's a big hairy beast right now...:)

What catches my eye is that all that ramification seems to be behind the plane of the the front. Right now it is like a flasher in a silk neglegee. For me, it would be much more interesting to be seeing the upper trunk through the gossamer of a see thru blouse = I think you need more of that ramification positioned in front of the trunk (but maybe you don't care for that in the summer image).

... just a snap reaction.

It is a very nice tree, well worth stewing over, IMHO.

It never gets old seeing the striking contrasts of a bare tree and seeing it again with all the leaves back in, it adds a whole new dimension and depth to all the time and techniques that have gone into that tree each seen differently in every season. The ramification on that tree is amazing! What a beautiful tree @JudyB

Love this tree, Judy. im guessing it was one of the trees you sold, as not been updated in a while.
certainly has the spook factor.

ah well, maybe it will show up on the forum again one day.
ive got my eye on one, ive admired hackberry for a while now:)
I still have my twin trunk one, it's never leaving my hands.. They are really fun to develop. I highly recommend them!

ive been looking at this one on kaizen, one angle reminds me of your twin trunk and from another angle i can see a bit of similarity to the tree in this thread.will obviously need some carving work..
its european hackberry, little more hardy than the chinese but not very common in UK
