Here is a cali juniper collected by me, jin and sari need more detail with dremel tool.
first pictures of when collected and potted then after removing foliage but didn't take
a before pic thinking I had one on file, will post it if I find it.
The work started at around 8:30am and worked at it till 4pm without lunch lol...
Would really like others to point out what I missed or what I can do to improve its
styling...

Rishi.

You have a pretty good idea but the photo makes it really difficult to tell where your veins of living bark reside. It is my hope that you will not suffer from having removed so much of the living tissue of this tree. For now leave it alone until it starts to generate a whole lot of new growth.

I did clean the bark and saw where the live veins was and made sure to keep clear from them.
Mostly worked the deadwood and left the areas where sari was needed detailing.

It looks like a wonderful tree but will echo the concern that the pruning seem too drastic and you removed more foliage than I would be comfortable with if it is my tree...especially as nice as this one. :)

I am also wondering about the timing. I thought this type of operation on juni is best done on spring?

Good luck!!!

Dario, after cleaning the foliage and selecting what I needed, it should do fine as far as survival.
As for timing, I worked on it because its healthy and also I have done work on another (last year same time) no problems that will be next Cali thread. Some guys are collecting from as early as October, so my little work won't hurt I hope lol.

It won't be touched till wire removal. :-)

Nice material. It will be fun to watch this one develop!

As long as it was growing strong with lots of new growth extensions this should be fine. Once they are recovered from collecting-3-5 years is my experience they are no more fragile then any other juniper. Nice CA I'd like to see it in a year or two.

Thanks, it did have lots of growth like the others I have. Hopefully I can work another for the new year.
