Brightside Bonsai Pots

Your round pots are very nice.
I hope to see some rectangles and ovals from you eventually.

Dont get me wrong, I like round pots. I know they are probably easiest to make, but it seems oval and rectangle pots are used more frequently for aesthetic reasons.
Thank you!

I am shifting my focus on ovals, rectangles, etc. Just taking some time getting all the jigs and tools to help aid in the designs and building process I need to make them nice.

I can't wait to see your slab-builts.

I have a plethora of rounds to choose from that I am now a but more picky on what I buy to place on the "maybe someday" shelf. XD (That is until I get even more shelf space)

Keep up with the great work in general. Your pots and a local potter have the grand majority of my collection thus far.

It’ll be a nice change from throwing pots on the wheel. That’s awesome you have a local potters work in your collection as well! I am glad you like my pots as too!

Good stuff @BrightsideB ! I'll be back. :)

I know the answer to this question but for unaware can you tell them what a slab pot is? ;)
In the simplest way it is rolling out clay, cutting parts out and piecing them together. As a former welder it is a lot like cutting and forming metal plate and welding it together.

I love this pot! Thanks so much, it'll be perfect for my styrax...in a couple years maybe!

added a second picture that really shows the lovely texture on it.

It'll look great with the flowers, the trunk has some thickening to go
Oh yes, quite a lot! I got this tree as essentially a 2' long twig straight up and down in my first bonsai class. It will likely stay in the grow bag for another year or two, and then possibly into another training container... unless I just can't bare to see this pot go vacant that long!

I learned quick that sometimes its worth putting something not ready in a pot just because it makes you happier on the shelf. However with the goal of a much thicker trunk a grow bag is the way to go if impossible to ground grow

That’s awesome! Are you thinking of repotting next spring? It got there quick.

There's actually two beeches with trunks of similar girth, and both could work in the pot, but I don't want to rush them. One grew extremely vigorously this year, so I think it's ready for some serious bonsai work, but I want to try to air layer the top off of it, and that will delay the development of the bottom by a year or two. The other tree is healthy, but not as vigorous. I anticipate that after another growing season, it will be ready for some root work to get it out of its growing bag and into a bonsai pot, but not this spring.

I just put some more pots up! New glaze mixes. I have about 10 more going up later all small pots. Have some larger pots in the kiln right now using a different clay. Really working to get larger pots.
I look forward to the bigger pots! I can use one for my juniper in the spring!
