Bonsai Stick Figures with special guest Rick Martin

I thought it was flattering. Rick asked for people to comment about his trees, and was upset that people weren't offering criticisms, even if they were harsh. He insisted he had a tough hide. He gets a thread devoted to helping him and focusing on just the trees he's been asking about and... - ????
Tough hide is one thing. Using my name and invading my privacy is another.

Well if your goal was to run me off. It worked. I am officially done here. If you wanted to teach me something you could have done it without my name in the title.

dude, you were whinging in your lil juniper thread about how no one was responding to your trees, and bragging about what thick skin you had and now, someone has posted an awesome critique and advice on how to make, not just thst tree, but all your trees better, just for you, by name and your complaining about that too? Maybe next time no one offers help you should ask your self why then take a long hard look in the mirror for the answer. I would have paid money for that response. In fact I'm paying money this weekend and I hope the lesson I get is as clear and usefull as what your complaining about.

and, privacy, look it up, it doesn't mean what you think it means here's a hint, nothing you post on a public forum is private.

I'll see if I can get the owner to change the name of the thread "Bonsai Stick Figures with special guest Ungrateful Asshole". See nothing personal then. In fact it should be pretty simple since Greg and friends are driving up to the compound for a personal tour on Saturday.

.... Or do what I do and put me on ignore. Easy least.

I think you're taking this the wrong way Rick. Think about it. You are getting a personal lesson on bonsai and what it takes to make a good bonsai from a very knowledgeable man in the field.
Sure you didn't ask outright for the personal attention but you did in a way when in your other thread that you think no one here likes you.
I see what AL did was to extend out a helping hand to help you along and to also feel a part of his bonsai community.
I would be flattered to have him critique my trees (I think) he knows what he is talking about.
Don't feel like you were picked on at all.
Look at in the way that this great bonsai artist took the time out of his very busy life tohelp me personally.
As for all of the other posts in this thread ignore them and focus on what Smoke did for you.
It was a good thing Rick. It really was.
Hope you don't leave.
We can all learn a thing or three from threads like this one. No matter how long we've been doing this thing.

Oops, didn't realise that this posting involved a real person.

@RickMartin,

Hey your lucky, you got one of the older heads here to respond.
Sorry, on our side Junipers don't like our south weather, up north they grow like weeds.
Couldn't offer any advice.
Good Day
Anthony

Not to mention the man has a sick wife. The last thing he needed to do was put together a basic design lesson for someone.

Look @RickMartin as someone that has been a target of Smoke's comments at times, I can assure you he was not trying to embarrass or harass you, but to try and help you and tell you something about the trees you posted and had questions about. Your reaction is the very reason so many of us are reluctant to comment.

You cant have it both ways. Either you have a thick skin and take the comments as a learning opportunity and use that to improve your skills and your trees or dont post trees.
If you are really looking for a pat on the back and people saying your trees are great when they arent, and never will be you're in the wrong place.

If you do want to have great trees someday, listen to what people are trying to tell you instead of running away.

Nice tip Smoke. Don't worry about the knucklehead.
I'm betting he was a Bernie Sanders supporter so I chalk it up to that. It's the way of America lately and I/we have to live with it.

I hope you noticed my recent post with the cork elm and the beer bottle. That is the last one I have left when you visited me last summer at the compound. Thanks for that, I enjoyed them.

People this is not about the damn trees now, its about using my name without permission. Some people might be OK with that, I am not and that's my god given right in this country. Now am I appericative of what he posted. Yeah extremely. He just did it the wrong way. I have never said my trees were masterpieces, hell I would be insane to think they were or ever will be in my hands anyway. It takes years for that to happen, years which I don't have enough time here to happen, but I do think eventually I can make some pretty nice ones. Paradox is right. At this point I'm in the wrong place. I need to get away for awhile.
Smoke sorry. I know you meant well just wish you would have asked first.

Rick

Rick

I think you are being WAAAY too sensitive.
Whatever. Run away and hide.
Im done. I wont ever try to help you again I promise.
Good luck.

I guess all I can say is this. I'm going to sit in my cold ass garage and draw stick trees all weekend. Come spring I can maybe make some improvements on what I have and take my trees up a notch.

Thank you

You know I was thinking of doing the same thing!

Rick

uhhh...you kinda gave up those rights when you signed up here. My obligation is not to use your images for my monetary benefit, nor to use them off sight without proper attribution, which I did by including you in the title. What makes you think you are the Rick Martin I am writing about. In fact there is a Rick Martin in my club and I may have been writing about him. See how silly this is.

There is no wrong way nor right way....I did it my way. Whether you like it or not makes little difference to me.

Personally, for me, I would love to see what you do next. I would love to see you apply possibly just one thing you may have garnered from my writing. If you don't I get it. I will not come here tomorrow to tell everyone how frustrated I am that you didn't try though...capisce?
