Yes, I was in contact with Vin via messaging though FB. Asking since he hadn't responded to the thread for awhile...our conversation took place before the apology. So...let's just wait a bit...See where it goes.

I would imagine our behavior in the thread will weigh a lot on the outcome of if this contest continues...

Let me ask you this; if you go back and read through this entire thread I would appreciate it if you would tell me. Your above question is dependent on one thing or one's interpretation of it.

As far as judging goes, how about setting up a poll and having the members pick the best tree. I know having a well known name do the judging adds a lot of clout to the competition but since it is just for fun, we could let the voting decide.

Seasoned vets will vote on the best start towards a quality bonsai and the newbies can vote on what they think just looks purty. Both are valuable points of view....Just my $.02.

One idea (I don't know if I like it or not) is to limit voting to only those people who participate. Each entrant gets two votes... and you can only vote for yourself once

A passing thought when setting up the last challenge was for the Intermediate and Beginner Category participants to vote on the Advanced. The Advanced and Beginners vote on the Intermediate. Both the Advanced and Intermediates vote on the Beginner but, I don't know...

Yes, there will be a new thread outlining everything and will include the rules.

Just an update. I appreciate everyone's patience. The rules for the upcoming challenge will be posted before the end of this month. The challenge will begin in March but will also allow for those in colder climates to participate. More to come.
