We all understand this. The point was when to partially cut the candles. When (1) needles just begin to emerge or (2) when the sheaths drop? Brian seems to think that these are two different techniques used for different purposes. So even within species or cultivar variation, these single flush pines are not going to begin to open needles and drop sheaths at the same time (I don't think?) I'm too drunk right now to read through and comprehend the entire thread; but that was, I think, the issue.I have several different species and cultivars of single flush pine and the candles develop at different times and rates, spread out over a month.
