Variegated Pohutukawa...native to the Kermadec islands.
I've had this tree since a stick in a pot...some 15 years. Initially trained it for bonsai, then just planted it into a big terracotta garden pot. I let the roots escape into the ground and decided to leave it as a house potted plant.
Haha...yesterday I decided to bonsai it again. It has basically the same growth habits as our NZ Pohutukawa
After fighting it out the Big pot, I trimmed it back radically on top....they bounce back readily.
Gave it a good root trim
And fitted it into a plastic storage container. Next day I had another round with it. I wrapped one branch and bent it to form better into the tree. This wood is hard and brittle...but luckily didn't hear any cracks. I'll pull it in some more next season.
The photos don't really do it justice, but it'll be a cracker in a few years time. Big and impressive with its domed canopy.
