What's the biggest bonsai you have seen/own/know of? How big is too big? I'm definitely drawn to the bigger plants vs the small "shohin" style.

Extra brownies for pics.

All depends. How big a boy are you??
Here is a large trident maple at the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection near Seattle. That’s my wife and daughter in 2003. The tree belonged to a Japanese family who was moved to an internment camp in CA during WW II. It grew into the ground.

For me....

When more than man is required to move it...
It may as well be in the earth which man can not move.

I mean...

At which point then..
Should the "rock slab" pot....
... just remain the mountain?

The Pots are Stupid Impressive though!:p:eek:o_O

Big old baobab.
The guy reckons a few hundred years old...
Needless to say I didn't have enough cash for that one.

I saw this bald cypress not too long ago. It's hard to tell the scale but compare it to the fence behind it or the junipers on the ground to the right. It's huge! 20180414_121255.jpg

Would love to see a white birch done like this. Maybe a white birch forest?

@LanceMac10 has a 47" beauty! Lance whip it out!

Wow some awesome trees so far. Really seems like there’s no limit.

Just thinking outside the box here....

Marders nursery in bridgeHampton NY specializes in large specimen trees; growing, planting and transplanting. They have some massive trees burlapped up that, with the right kind of money (most expensive I found was a 40’ European Beech for $80,000), would be pretty insane to build a pot for and make a massive bonsai.
