What's the biggest bonsai you have seen/own/know of? How big is too big? I'm definitely drawn to the bigger plants vs the small "shohin" style.

Here is a large trident maple at the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection near Seattle. That’s my wife and daughter in 2003. The tree belonged to a Japanese family who was moved to an internment camp in CA during WW II. It grew into the ground.

Yea, I’ve got three of those!
Anybody else notice the dingo in the cage? Or what I assume is an air layer in the tree behind, which is also a potted tree.

I saw this bald cypress not too long ago. It's hard to tell the scale but compare it to the fence behind it or the junipers on the ground to the right. It's huge!

Wow some awesome trees so far. Really seems like there’s no limit.
Just thinking outside the box here....
Marders nursery in bridgeHampton NY specializes in large specimen trees; growing, planting and transplanting. They have some massive trees burlapped up that, with the right kind of money (most expensive I found was a 40’ European Beech for $80,000), would be pretty insane to build a pot for and make a massive bonsai.
