In the beginning I used a lot of wire. Now it is mostly clip and grow with the occasional wire here and there.John, did you mostly employ clip and grow on these?
Thanks
Thanks! There is one more that is bigger that I haven't shown much. These really did turn out nice
Thanks, this one is male, I have been scouting for a female.Great job! I have one about the same size. Like yours, it's really ramified. Mine seems to be a male plant also......... no berries in 4 years. I have a much smaller one that is full of berries.
I hope to bring this one in even tighter, gonna see what I get with the trimGreat job! I have one about the same size. Like yours, it's really ramified. Mine seems to be a male plant also......... no berries in 4 years. I have a much smaller one that is full of berries.
It doesn't seem to take long with these, 2 months or so. I mostly do just clip and grow with these now.Great trees. Awesome job with the progression. How long do you leave wire on typically for branches to hold?
Like Walter Pall says "Too many branches is a good problem to have." Looks like you sorted them out.Update: Not satisfied with the green helmet that I created, I gave this one a hard cut back.View attachment 509746View attachment 509747View attachment 509748View attachment 509749
I think you are right.I find, with this kind of tree, I forget most of the classic bonsai guidelines and just get the foliage pulled down and more evenly distributed.
