Went on my 2nd collection trip last week...

Head with a couple men to the national forest area and acquired the permits to collect some trees.

I'll say as only my 2nd trip it is amazing what nature produces. Some amazing twist and turns in the tree, landscape, and mountains.

The way trees can grow into a stone is nothing short of impressive.

Well I hope to share stories and learn from others.

I'll post pics of the trees once in the pots and on the ground.

Here is a ponderosa I potted moments ago. About 2 ft tall or so. Deadwood starts from the base all the way up to the apex.

This tree as several others came out of a granite rock pocket. I may have a photo, let me check

This and all the other recently collected trees will all be placed on heating mats this late fall through early spring.

Yep, I'm trying some as well this Fall. Subalpine firs and larches. I'm going to keep them on heating mats too, at least for lower temp days. Wish you luck. I haven't had much luck unless I can get a decent sized root ball.

Nice, what type of areas are you collecting? I was in mostly granite mountains this year.

Saw this approach at a local garden. Much easier than building a box or small round container.
