Kinzu (Golden Bean kumquat)

After 3 years of grafting, it is bearing a lot of fruit as this morning. I guess it could have more than 150 fruits!


Below is the cutting made in this summer. It already has 2 fruits!


The Vietnamese has a tradition to display the kumquat in the Tết (Vietnamese New Year). The reason is that its orange color fruits will bring the auspicious moment to their family in the whole year!

Love it! Its going to be really nice when the fruits turn orange.

I think you should root more cuttings and ship them to me

But I'm mostly just teasing- its more hassle than its worth. I'll just have to hold out till I find a nice one. I havent been able to get citrus to root anyway, even though I've tried a bunch of times .

Makes me reconsider your offer

Looks like your leaves are a little yellow, same here with my lime and lemon trees. Any comments on that? Add fert or something?

My offer is still there! ;-)
The leaves changes color to yellow due to cold temperature. It is normal.

We just took three 5 gallon buckets of fruit off our Satsuma Mandarin this weekend. It appears they fruit at the same time!

I have a small hindsii that I just got a month ago... as well as some seeds that I am hoping I can get to germinate!

I wonder if I could twist the cuttings up real good before I pot them to turn into twisty mame? After all, mame is about the only size Bonsai you can create with these in a reasonable amount of time, or so I hear.

I will let you know when I am ready to pack.
I don't know, but it belongs to citrus family, so I think the hardened wood tree can handle 20 degrees Fahrenheit. In the past, we had a lot of citrus growers in my area. They had to use the oil heaters to keep their trees warm in the winter nights!
