The Shohin Tree Thread

A little JM pushing spring growth pretty early this year. This tree was an airlayer I created a couple of years back. I don't have many JMs, but I'm kind of fond of this one.

Great little twin trunk!
Here's a small Japanese maple I bought at the ABS convention in Denver CO this spring, from Frank Mihalic.

Shohin collected Engelmann spruce. I collected this, but it was styled and potted by Ryan Neil. The pot is Japanese, but I'm not quite sure on the maker. I'll look it up.

I've got one I'm pretty exited about.
It's a very rare variety of trident maple, called a Naruto-Kaede - Named after Naruto the area in Tokoshima near Awaji-island in Shokoku.
It has a very distinctive upward curled leaf and bright red petioles.
I plan on developing this tree in the rock as it's basically locked in to it, with the front something like the second picture. I'm not in love with the pot, but for now it will do. I'm really hoping to be able to let a few branches run and then take cuttings so I can get more of these things.

@TomB always on point! Supposed to post a pic though. 😬

Sagebrush that I’ve done nothing but trim.

Any tips for keeping these things alive? I have a couple I collected a year ago. I planted em in the ground. To my surprise they would get droopy if not watered regularly early this summer. I started watering them more and they put out a lot of new growth. Like 10 inch straight shoots. I trimmed back part of the growth mid summer on one of them and it think it might have killed it.
