Any rule of thumb on how thicker aluminium wire should be used on conifers instead of copper one?

I have the copper wire but i didn't annealed it yet...

"play swords", your wire vs the branch you want to wire. Start small, when the wire wins use that wire.

About double. What’s important is that it holds the position you need it to hold.

I agree. When wire “holds”, that means you wire it, you move the branch to the position you want, you let go, and it stays put.

Wire isn’t “holding” if for you get the branch to be at a certain position you have to move the branch beyond the desired position so that when you let go, it “returns” back, but stays somewhere close to where you want it.
