Willow Leaf Ficus

awesome

brought mine inside a month and a half ago
and it has dropped some leafs

i might put a glass container over it soon or bag (thanks for idea) to get it to improve via humidity.

drops a lot of leafs which attract spider mites lol. i used some neem on half my indoor plants a month ago including this one i believe. ive had a rough go with the tropicals this season perhaps not enough use of tower fan or watering methods. bougie, hibiscus, and a few ficus looking rough but oh well

good luck with the cuttings and nice quality trees per usual by you
One of the cuttings made it!

And I started having better luck with my ficus when I reduced water, and gave it partial shade at the hottest part of the day.
Indoors, I keep the lights on 16 hours per day and they usually grow for me over winter after a brief break.
Since I defoliated this one when I brought it in, it should leaf out, then chill for a few months, and be ready to get repotted in spring or summer.

good info, thanks, and congrats on one of the babies

I know this sort of thing is unorthodox, but I've been doing fall work on my tropical trees for years now and I don't think I've had any problems with it. I let this tree grow all summer after a severe cutback.
Today, I thinned out the excess branches. Then, I edited it a bit more.
I left some length on the branches I want to keep, and did some classic ham-fisted wiring. Left the 2 apex branches to grow taller.
Roughed it up pretty good.
I also took a peek below the soil line, it's getting crazy down there. I'll have to repot and lift it up in the pot soon. 20241015_180050.jpg20241015_180101.jpg20241015_180112.jpg20241015_180122.jpg20241015_184738.jpg20241015_184752.jpg20241015_184820.jpg20241015_185357.jpg20241015_201914.jpg20241015_201932.jpg20241015_201957.jpg20241015_202017.jpg

Spring time is just about here.
Been doing the Bonsai Two Step all month long. Still going to have some near freezing nights coming up in early April. Gotta be careful.
Wire off, except for one branch.
It mostly self-defoliated inside.
New buds pushing all over.
I'm hoping to repot it this summer and explore the nebari a little bit.
