Can I add that I got round to setting up my own online store in the UK, which I know is a little ways away, but I can ship to the US, and UK/EU folks might see it here.

I pick up Japanese pots to learn from them, and also sell my own stuff there:

Nice looking pots! Have you shipped anything to the US? Do you have a rough idea on shipping cost?

Go to bonsai shows, potters usually show up there. We just had one in Asheville this month and had 5 potters selling hand made pots from little mame sizes to ginormous. I finally found an 18” pot for my huge bald cypress and since I walked away with it there was no shipping charge and I got a show discount.

I often use the auction sites to make acquaintance with a potter. If I see something I like, but it's already sold, a " what else you got?" PM usually does the trick. I've got some good results with, "can you make me?" PMs, too.

Shipping is expensive, it's about $50 for an 11lb parcel and about $74 for 22lb parcel. Maybe when I get more stock of my own pots I could surface ship to a partner in the US!

Yeah over the last year I've amassed a handful of etsy/websites that I'll check from time to time. Here are a few that I check regularly and they are all top notch potters.

@BrightsideB https://www.etsy.com/shop/BrightsideBonsai

@NaoTK https://www.tokutakebonsai.com/shop (hopefully someday I'll have a worthy tree)

Denise Soultani https://www.etsy.com/shop/DMSPottery (She seems to add in batches)

Roy Minarai https://royminarai.com/available/ (these are definitely on the wishlist someday)

I'll second this recommendation above:

Finally, Instagram has some good stuff, here is a guy I've purchased from in the past:

Mountain Summit Bonsai - @mountainsummitbonsai
I came back to this thread and went to https://www.tokutakebonsai.com/ and https://royminarai.com/available/

and Wow!!! The pots in these galleries are A+++. That drip style on the color and glaze on those Roy Mirai pots are ducking awesome!
